Bosse wood is from the same family as Sapele and they have a certain resemblance. It is, however, lighter in color than Sapele and the grain is normally very variable but is of less interest.

The color of the sapwood and heartwood are very differentiated, with light yellow - gray in the sapwood and brown - pink in the heartwood, although it darkens considerably over time.

It is a hard wood, quite resistant to humidity and insects. Sometimes it is difficult to work, due to the variability of the grain. It usually contains silicates, which wear down the edge of tools quickly.

It is used for making furniture, boats, turning and veneers.
