Abura wood is light brown in color, with variations towards pink and yellow. The grain is straight and the texture smooth and uniform.

It is easy to work with and does not present difficulties in gluing or finishing. It can have a slight wear effect on the edges of the tools, although it is not as pronounced as in other woods with a higher mineral content.

It is mainly used for making furniture, but also for floors and plywood.
