Dried Black Sucupira wood plank, planed and squared. Manually selected.
Black Sucupira wood is chocolate brown in color, although with exposure to light the tone lightens a bit. It has a medium texture, with a very good natural shine.
It is widely used outdoors due to its exceptional hardness and resistance to fungi and insects.
It is one of the hardest woods that can be obtained commercially, sometimes close to woods such as ebony, traditionally used for its resistance.
It is often used as an alternative to ipe wood, due to its stability and similarity to ipe.
In addition to its common use outdoors, it is also used to make furniture, veneers, floors, tool handles, boat decks and luteria.
>It usually reacts to contact with iron producing color changes, so work with steel wool, iron nails or any tool that can leave traces of filings, which could spoil the finish, should be avoided.
