Light wood with a straight grain and a color between yellow and brown / gold. Widely used outdoors due to its great resistance to humidity and rot, although it is only partially resistant to insects.

It is soft and very easy to work with, although for this same reason it is not highly recommended for making surfaces that are going to receive knocks or a lot of direct use, such as table tops or countertops.

It is one of the most common woods for exterior cladding, and as a curiosity it is also the most used to make pencils, so the smell when working with it is very familiar.
