Dried Cerejeira wood plank, planed and squared. Manually selected.
Cerejeira wood comes from South America, mainly from the north of Brazil. The color is golden-yellow, and sometimes shows an optical depth effect that is highly appreciated by high-end furniture craftsmen. The grain is not very marked, with very similar heartwood and sapwood. The texture is medium - rough but it has a good natural shine.
It is easy to work with, although it sometimes has a high mineral content, which easily dulls cutting tools. The grain is sometimes interlocked, which can complicate planing. Accepts gluing and finishes without problems.
It is used for making high-end furniture, interior carpentry, turning, sheet metal and boat manufacturing.
Cerejeira gives off a very pleasant marked odor of coumarin, similar to cinnamon. The seeds of the tree are used for their aroma to make soaps. The natural oil from the wood is extracted to be used for medicinal purposes.
