South American reddish-brown wood that tends to darken over time. Small pockets of natural oil often appear where the characteristic aroma of this wood accumulates. The grain is poorly marked and practically uninteresting.

It is quite resistant to natural agents and the passage of time, and above all it is known for being resistant to termites and many other insects.

It has a medium texture, quite soft and easy to work with, although the tools need to have a good edge to achieve a quality surface.

When finishing, be careful with small pockets of oil, which can impregnate the nearby surface and make work difficult.

Due to its natural aroma, it is highly appreciated for the manufacture of cigar boxes.
